I just finished reading your book "My Buddypack" and what a great read it was! I totally enjoy adventure books and read them all the time. Your adventure book was very well written and even had some great twists in the story that even I, a seasoned adventure reader, didn't see coming! Congratulations on such a great book!

Dear John,
I loved the book. The bad guys were "really" bad, almost shockingly bad, but the good guys were funny, witty and multi-dimensional. Billy is of course my
favorite character and the different connections he had with the characters were unique. I loved the relationship he had with his mother, and the understanding he discovered from his fathers death. I have two questions, what and when is Billy and Buddy's new adventure? and What happens with Burke and Billy's mom?

"Through his fast-paced novel, Hicks has been able to tap into the culture of today's young people."
Move Over Spy Kids, Billy Talbert's Got Buddy, February 23, 2004
Reviewer: Lorraine Fulleman- Serria Vista Junior High Librarian
Hicks tells the tale of nine year old Billy Talbert, and how his accidental find of a high tech backpack (Buddy) with a personality and attitude involves him in a plot involving clones and a plan to assassinate the U.S. President. Friends, Mary Franklin and Jimmy Farrell, add humorous dialog as they try to assist Billy in foiling the evil plot. Description of the action from different viewpoints and scenes keeps the narrative fast paced and the reader involved with all aspects of the action. Young readers will appreciate the realistic manner in which the characters speak, and the relationship that develops between Billy and Buddy. I would recommend this for students 5th-8th grade.
Divided World -Action Packed Futuristic Tale February 23, 2004
Author John Hicks provides something for everyone here with his science fiction tale of a distant world torn apart by war. Adventure, romance, pet anibots (robots) and futuristic battles will keep readers interested. Brother and sister, Terron and Cindra, are orphaned and separated at a young age and don't realize their royal heritage and importance to creating peace for their planet of Katella. Terron becomes a corporal in the military of the Nomar nation's special forces; Cindra works in diplomacy for the other warring nation of Tikeria. Events bring the siblings back together to face evil political forces as they attempt to bring peace to their divided world. I would recommend this for readers 5th-8th grade.

A great juvenile ghost story that will have adults standing and applauding. This story is brilliant in that it incorporates snapshots of reality in the descriptions of the duties and life of a firefighter will unfolding a fun to read good old fashioned ghost story. The characters could be the people who live
just next door to you their personalities and souls are that well developed by the author. This book is fun to read even for adults and is a must read for any
teenager looking for a good book to read. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more works by John B. Hicks.

As good as 'My Buddypack' if not better. I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the characters, but what I really enjoyed reading was all about the
firefighter's lives. You really get a feel for what they do, and it has quite a bit of humor to go along with it. Hope to read more of his work.
